Hanley Castle High School - H Block Expansion

Neal R Shipley & Co were appointed to expand and enhance their existing Humanities Block at Hanley Castle High School. The project involved the construction of a two-storey extension, including four classrooms, a new male and female toilet block, office spaces, a commercial kitchen extension, and refurbishments to the dining hall and servery. The construction took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, adding an additional layer of complexity to the project.

To overcome the logistical challenges of integrating the new facilities with the existing school building, the construction team employed careful planning and coordination. Service integrations were carefully planned to ensure seamless connectivity between the new and existing facilities. The team also worked in phases to minimize disruptions to the school's operations, ensuring that essential services were maintained throughout the construction process. The steel frame construction was executed with precision, ensuring the structural integrity of the new extension.

To address the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the construction team implemented rigorous health and safety protocols. This included regular testing of the construction team, the use of personal protective equipment, and strict adherence to social distancing guidelines.
